Martha’s "Why" Ergonomics allows me to nerd out on engineering stuff and establish and maintain relationships with people. I really care about people how people feel while they are working, and I love being creative in solving their problems. My best days are when somebody tells me, "Thanks. I feel so much better!”
Favorite project The best project I've worked on was at a vehicle assembly plant. We took a bird's eye view of their ergonomics program, evaluated jobs on the assembly line, and even tried some new concepts. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with a project manager/ergonomist with the client, and I now count her as one of my friends! I managed some of our Master’s of Public Health students as they evaluated jobs and collected data. It was inspiring to see the effort our faculty and staff have put in them be fulfilled in a professional work environment.
